The New National

Collaboration with Jarlath Cantwell & Ori Merom

Suppa aims to create a visually striking and flexible addition that represents "The New National." It incorporates an underground section to preserve the existing park and establish a strong connection with the current museum. The design features a translucent facade and a suspended volume which aims to evoke Finnish design.

This functional arrangement allows for extensive international exhibitions while embracing, by contrast, the National Romantic architecture of the existing museum. The upper level houses a restaurant and serves as a prominent image of the project, while the lower levels provide entrance facilities and exhibition spaces. This design ensures a cohesive and functional museum experience, integrating Finnish values of nature and landscape.
